Why is Sustainable Living based at Bellbunya?

Environmental groups throughout the Sunshine Coast hinterland have been calling for a Centre for learning and teaching sustainable practices.  With a large hall, restaurant, commercial kitchen and accommodation for medium size groups, Bellbunya’s Eco-Conference Centre is perfectly placed to host workshops, retreats and demonstrate sustainable systems and technologies.

We believe that the Centre has potential to bring together a range of initiatives aimed at creating a sustainable future.  Through partnerships with other groups and businesses interested in exploring aspects of sustainability we can achieve so much more than in acting alone.

We hope that people engaged in supporting an ecologically sustainable and conscious future will join us in supporting and utilising the centre.

With 40 elevated acres, high rainfalls and abundant surface and ground water, the property is ideal for showcasing and teaching sustainable eco-agricultural practices.  The centre’s low-food mile restaurant promotes the benefits of local, ecological food growing and healthy eating.  

Already plans are mobilising to use the centre to promote renewable energies, clean technologies and low pollutant transport alternatives.  Workshops now in the pipeline include electric car conversions, making wind-turbines from washing machine parts, small building designing, and cob-building.

Location
Bellbunya is located in the Blackall Ranges, 10 kilometres West of Eumundi off the Kenilworth/Maleny Tourist Drive, a one-and-a-half hour drive north of Brisbane, half-an-hour west of Noosa and serviced by airports at Brisbane and Maroochydore.

 

How to Drive to Bellbunya
From Brisbane follow the Bruce Highway north and take the Eumundi Kenilworth exit. Drive 11 km towards Kenilworth and immediately after passing over Belli Creek Bridges 1 and 2 (Bridge 2 has a new sign saying "Murray's Flat Crossing"), turn right into Browns Road. Drive about 1 km along Browns Road and after a sharp right hand turn look for the access sign to Bellbunya Lodge, on your left.

Bus and Rail Transport to Bellbunya
Coaches and trains regularly service Eumundi. Arrangements can be made  for a meet-and-greet service to convey guests to Bellbunya.
